introduction
Bhagat Jaidev Ji (popularly Jayadeva) is one of the fifteen Bhagat contributors to the Guru Granth Sahib. The Guru Granth Sahib contains two Sabads by him. The first Sabad is recorded in Rag Gujari on page 526, and the second is recorded in Rag Maru on page 1106. The titles of these Sabads are:
1. gūjarī srī jaidev jīu kā padā gharu 4 (Rag Gujari, Pada of Sri Jaidev, Ghar 4)
2. rāgu mārū bāṇī jaideu jīu kī (Rag Maru; Bani of Bhagat Jaidev Ji)
Since the word ‘pada’ appears in the title of the first Sabad, it is also referred to as ‘jaidev jī dā padā’ (a stanza by Jaidev Ji).
