No information is found regarding the time and place of the revelation of this composition. According to the narrative recorded in Sampradai Tika Adi Guru Granth Sahib, a pandit once approached Bhagat Kabir Ji and asked him, among the fifteen lunar dates and seven days, which lunar date and day should be worshipped, and which deity should one worship? In response to this question, this composition was revealed.

In the Indian subcontinent, pandits deliberate over the auspiciousness and inauspiciousness of lunar dates and days of the week. They have been influencing common people with such ideas to run their businesses and, to a large extent, determining the way of life in society. In the narrative mentioned above, the association of this composition’s revelation with a pandit seems to be a result of this. However, it does not seem to be true.
